이동통신 망에서 사용되는 음성 부호화기는 음성 신호로 한정하여 설계되었기 때문에 압축률이 높은 장점을 가진다. 하지만 음성신호가 아닌 다른 신호에 대해서는 소스 모델의 문제로 인해 통화음질을 저하시키는 큰 원인이 된다.
본 논문에서는 기존의 EVRC 음성 부호화기를 그대로 사용하면서 음질의 저하를 최소화하는 선처리단을 제안한다. 대상 음원이 달라지면서 과소예측으로 인해 발생하는 모델링 에러를 방지하기 위하여 청각적 특성을 반영하는 WLPC (Warped LPC)를 이용한 선처리 필터를 적용하였다.PESQ 측정 결과 0.015의 향상이 있었으며 음악 신호에 대한 EVRC의 전송률 저하를 막는 것을 확인하였다.
